August in the Allatoona Library
We have gotten off to a great start this year! We have awesome new library mentors (and one amazing 2nd year mentor). Allatoona High School has 1793 students this year and 96 teachers.
The last day for student book check out will be this Friday, May 10. Students must return books by May 17. We do not charge late fees so please don’t delay in returning overdue materials!
SENIORS: You must return your library books or pay for lost books to be cleared for graduation! Please see Mrs. Cochran with questions.
Student Requests

One of the best things about being a library media specialist is being able to purchase loads of new books and it is even more fun to buy books that Allatoona students request! In fact, many of our books are student requests! We currently have a new order of books ready for check out. Please stop by the library, take a look and check out a new read!
Please note:

So good to be back in the Allatoona Library!
It has been great to see all our awesome students this week! Everyone seems to be excited to get back to school for 2nd semester! I just finished the best book! You may want to check out Warcross by Marie Lu if you enjoy gaming, science fiction and/or fantasy books. Check out this Goodreads review to learn more!

Thinglink, TouchCast, Skype field trips and it’s only Wednesday!

The library has been super busy this week! I have enjoyed working with lots of Brit Lit students who are currently reading Macbeth. Mrs. Taylor’s students created Thinglink projects and compared the themes of Macbeth to current events, music and other media. Mrs. Bolls’ students created TouchCast videos reenacting the story of the death of King Duncan and the dark foreshadowing of things to come. I am always impressed with the creativity of our students! Mrs. Kurtz took Coach Vickrey’s students on an awesome Skype field trip into a volcano in San Salvador!
I am looking forward to meeting the the Bookaneers tomorrow morning at 7:45 to discuss Trouble is a Friend of Mine!
Now is a great time to return your overdue books and be sure to stop by to pick up something to read over Thanksgiving Break!
And the winner is…
